Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey) is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston. As a young girl, Houston started singing professionally in the church of New Hope Baptist of Newark alongside her mom singing on Chaka K's Im Every Woman in 1978. She provided backing vocals for Lou Rawls, Jermaine Jackson and her mom. Her vocals with the New York-based group Material brought attention to major record labels, including Arista. The label signed her to Arista in 1983 and was a part of the company for the rest of her professional career. In 1985, Whitney Houston's first album was the top-selling debut album of all time. A number of songs from the album became hits, such as The Most Beautiful Love of All and Saving All My Love. The album's first US year the album had sold more than 3 million copies. It went on to be purchased by millions of people around the world and earned her the first Grammy. Whitney was her first album. Whitney was released in 1987, and featuring the smash singles Where Do Broken Hearts go? and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, continued her earlier success. It came with The Bodyguard (1996) that cemented her position as the top selling album in music. While the movie and the actress' performance were not much praised, her soundtrack album featuring her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was the top-selling single for many months. The album sold over 44 million copies around the world. In the same year, she got married to ex-New Edition star Bobby Brown with whom she had her only child their child Bobbi Kristina Brown in March 1993. At this point the drug use was well-documented and she was able to use it regularly in 1996.

Dana Bash also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz is an American anchorwoman for the CNN newsroom as well as a political reporter for CNN.
