Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish has a connection to Ryder's Jewish father. The actress is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her and her siblings into Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. There was no electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the absence of television. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986 when she was 15 years old. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress could bring about change. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Still, she pursued her dreams. Ryder made her breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder continued to be successful in her parts in a variety of films. He was nominated for two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
